Adventure Arts: Frogs!

  • Natural Heritage Art Centre 213 North Cascade Street Osceola, WI, 54020 United States (map)

Adventure Arts are art & nature workshops where students simultaneously learn about natural ecosystems and art history through hands-on projects rich in observation and critical thinking. While developing technical skills, students experience working in the styles of artists and art movements through various art mediums like drawing, painting, sculpting, collage, ceramics, and printmaking.

In this winter workshop, student will learn about FROGS—the eggs, tadpoles and adult frogs are a crucial component of many ecological communities.

Enjoy a guest appearance from Katie Walsh, long-time educator and frog guru. Learn about frog life cycles, their habitat, and proper stewardship through presentation, and real-life observation.

Students will enjoy a unique opportunity to create a watercolor and ink study of our fine froggy friends through real-life observation. Students will learn how sketch from nature, and paint using basic watercolor and ink techniques—beginning with a wash of color, adding layered shadows and a final glazing of details.

*each student will complete one 9" x 12" watercolor painting.
