artist residency program

The Natural Heritage Art Centre offers a skill-share artist residency program that invites artists or writers to spend two to four weeks immersing themselves in studio work and interacting with the area landscape and rural community. Three fellows will be selected yearly for a two to four-week residency stay—any emerging artist, accomplished professional or scholar passionate about skill-sharing whose work addresses the environment, natural history, or cultural topics is encouraged to apply.

Fellows are given access to the Fern Studio, a cozy private studio with a bare cement floor, a drawing table, a large painting easel, a personal resource library, and free Wi-Fi within the Natural Heritage Art Centre. Fellows have 24-hour access to the Fern Studio, an extended workspace, a full ceramic studio, and paid teaching and exhibition opportunities. Participants will be encouraged to interact with the environment and rural community by leading workshops and attending outdoor adventure trips and public events.

Fellows are given preferred consideration for a solo exhibition in the Heritage Gallery or access to promote their work in the Marketplace and during Public Events.
